Jesus & The Practice of Release

It’s often called the Missionary Discourse as it is Jesus’ instructions to his 12 disciples as he sends them out to preach the gospel. Most of us don’t live the life of a full-time disciple. So then, is there something in this teaching for us today? What does Jesus mean at the end of the chapter when he says, “Those who find their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for my sake will find it”? Throughout his life and ministry, Jesus modeled the practice of release. As his followers, we strive to follow his example. Our ability to release our expectations of people and circumstances can free us up to partner with God and the moving of His Spirit.
