The Christ-God // The Cross: A Divine “Get To!”

Nothing illustrates this truth more clearly than the cross of Christ.  Jesus himself says, “The Father loves me because I sacrifice my life so I may take it back again.  No one can take my life from me.  I sacrifice it voluntarily.  For I have the authority to lay it down when I want to and also to take it up again.  For this is what my Father has commanded.”  (John 10:17-18, NLT)

Jesus’ freedom of choice results in the greatest example of pure love known to man.  “Arms wide open and a heart exposed.” – Misty Edwards.  This love calls out to us, not with a “have to” but with an invitation to freely participate in a divine “Get Too!”
