The Way Down Is the Way Up – Backstory
Bible Text: Matthew 7: 1-6 | Preacher: Scott Roe | Series: The Way Up is the Way Down
We all know just how easy it is to read a sentence or paragraph out of context from the rest of the story or letter. We’ve experienced it when we’ve read a verse or passage in the Bible, believing it to mean one thing, only to find out that the author meant something else.
Unfortunately, the same is true when we make a judgment of a person. We arrive at a conclusion based on what we have seen or heard. However, we arrive at that conclusion without knowing their backstory. It’s the backstory that gives context to the sliver of their life that you have observed. The backstory brings everything into context.
“Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. For you will be treated as you treat others. The standard you use in judging is the standard by which you will be judged.”
