Following with Eyes Wide Open

God is kind. If you have any doubts, observe how Jesus cares for people and especially for his followers. There are many times in the gospels where Jesus ‘warns’ people. How we ‘read’ Jesus’ warnings depends a lot on our view of God. If God is punitive, then there will be a tendency to read Jesus’ warnings as, “You better watch out!”. But if God is love, then Jesus’ warnings are there to help us and guide us along the way. Because pitfalls are inevitable, Jesus calls us to follow with eyes wide open.
