Leave Your Nets Behind

In his gospel, Matthew recounts the story of when Jesus called out to Simon (Peter) and his brother, Andrew, to “Come, follow me.” Simon and Andrew were commercial fisherman and upon hearing Jesus’ call to follow, Matthew writes, “…they left their nets at once and followed him.”

The decision to follow Jesus requires us to let go of anything that would have the potential to come between me and Jesus.  What in your life comes between you and following Jesus? That’s your net, and ‘the call’ requires that you leave your nets behind!
