In Search of the Heart

Preacher:
Series:
Passage: Psalm 139: 23-24
Service Type:

Have you ever noticed that God doesn’t have much to say about the clothes we wear, the style of our hair, or the cosmetics we use?  Conversations with God seem to end up being about the heart.  The very place that we protect the most, and expose the least, is the place that God longs to go.  Have you ever wondered why that is?  It’s because the heart is at the centre of everything that we are, and it’s from the heart that we are called to live.

Song at end of service:
Tu suteiki – You give
By Karolina Kieraitė,
Vineyard Vilnius, Lithuania

Based on Is 26:3
You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.
You give Perfect Peace to those Who trust in you
In Your name, Your will, Your faithful love In Your word, Your will, Your power”

This is a piece in which you can hear quickened heartbeat, which gets slower, as the words from Isiah are repeated. The background keeps repeating the theme of the verse, while the melody asserts what we trust about Him – His name, His will, His love, His word, His will, His power, and many other things about Him. The more we trust, the more we our hearts are at peace. We crave peace, don’t we? Good news, peace is a Person. A Person who is unfailing, unchanging, all-powerful, and extravagantly loving. May we, who are His, rest our hearts in Him.
